Hi friend—I’m Dechari.
(dee-chair-uh)
I’m a small-town girl from North Carolina now living in the city of Nashville, Tennessee.
I fell in love with Jesus at the age of seven, and He has been my Lord and closest friend ever since. I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 23 years. While we don’t have children of our own, we do have the most social and curious dog named Jack, and I carry a deep heart for investing in the next generation—so much so that God allowed me to start Girls Living 4 God, a non-profit serving teen girls.
What I Believe
I believe Jesus is the only way to God—fully God and fully man—born of a virgin, who died on the cross taking our sins upon Himself, conquered both sin and the grave, and is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for me until the day He takes me home to Heaven. Through confessing and believing in Him, my relationship with God was restored, and I am a child of God.
When I made Christ Lord, I received the gift of the Holy Spirit who is alive, active, and guiding me in the Father’s heart. I believe the Bible is “breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,” and I need its power and truth in my life every day.
I Love to Testify
I’m always watching for what God is teaching me, and I want to share it because His goodness is too good to keep to myself. Ask me a question and a common Dechari response is, “It’s a God thing!”
I Go on Dates with Jesus
That might sound a little unusual, but incorporating joy transformed my walk with Jesus, and I believe real relationships require intentional time. I love packing a cute bag with my Bible, a devotional, and journaling supplies as I set aside space for deeper conversations, delight, and simply being with Him.
Brunch & Quality Time Are My Love Languages
Because of this, you’ll often find me having brunch on my dates with Jesus or lingering over a meal with friends. Connection, presence, and unhurried time matter deeply to me.
I Process & Create Through Writing and Drawing
Writing and drawing help me dwell in the Word and create space to hear the Lord more clearly. Through this process, I’ve learned to overcome strongholds and create tools, books, and even doodles that God uses to help others do the same.
I’m a lifelong student—Jesus is the best teacher and the Holy Spirit the best guide. I encourage you to bring your questions before God and allow Him to teach you—just get ready for the journey, because it takes time to transfer what you’ve learned into how you live it out.
I Love Asking God Questions
After more than a decade as a wedding and event planner, God invited me to use those skills to create spaces where His children could encounter His love, discover their identity, and be equipped for spiritual warfare. That’s why my heart is to equip you with both a crown and combat boots—because both are needed.
I Love Creating Spaces to Experience God
I See Your Potential
Even if you feel stuck, I see the endless potential available to you with the Lord. I love championing others as they run their race, and mentoring has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
I’ve Been Battle-Tested
I’ve walked through great victories, deep loss, and seasons I never imagined surviving—publishing my first book, starting a nonprofit, hosting $35,000 events on $500 and faith, flourishing during a global pandemic, and then entering a wilderness marked by profound grief.
The loss of my nephew to suicide, my dad’s homegoing, losing my childhood home to a devastating flood, strained relationships, and walking beside my little sister through her cancer battle brought me to a place where I couldn’t stand—I could only lie on the Rock. For the past three years, Jesus held me there, digging deep wells and making the Gospel more alive and real than ever. Out of the crushing and pruning, a holy pouring out has come.
My prayer is that this space encourages you to look to the Light of Christ in whatever season you’re facing and to run your race well, knowing God is faithful in every season.

Love, hugs, and prayers,
Your battle sister in Christ,
